Do not use phone quotes as the main factor to select a contractor/refinisher
You need to get an in-home estimate or in writing
Measure for square footage
Get rate per square foot
Add cost for extras like colors, tile repairs (loose tiles, fixtures, chipped/ broken tiles, etc.)
Is the grout on the walls being redone?
Is the caulking around the tub/shower being removed and replaced?
A common issue is paint removal from previous jobs, that needs to be addressed and costs need to be added or dealt with
Is the paint from previous job being removed?
Is the bathroom being protected and ventilated correctly?
Strong fumes and odors need to be vented outdoors (very important)
Is there shower doors?
Is their removal and re-installation included in the price?
How much are you paying for these service items
What the total cost is with sales tax
What is the deposit, progress and final payment
When are these payments due and how are they paid.
When following this guide lines you can expect a very good job from a reputable refinisher at a fair price, remember a contractor needs to have insurance and skilled labor and you are expected to pay for these costs. Bathtub and tile refinishing is an affordable option and a real bargain compared to new bathroom remodeling.
I am looking for a quote for a bathroom project in Margate City, NJ 08402. It is a 1950's blue bathroom and I'd like to have both the tub and sink reglazed, retaining the original color. Fixtures and medicine chest also need to be replaced. There are some old tiles and caulk to be removed from around tub and the walls are currently some sort of bathroom wall pannels. Perhaps you have suggestions for removing and replacing those too. Additionally, we need to upgrade the kitchen and it might be cool to be able to retain the orignial sink, so I'd like an estimate for reglazing that also. As I recall there are some nicks in the kitchen sink, but I believe that the tub and bath sink are in great shape, except that the glaze has worn off in places. Please contact me at the email above or 610-825-3308.
